Herbs & Homeopathy

Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is used to assist the body in its own instinctive attempts to self-heal. Herbs and other plant medicines have been used since the Stone Age becoming more popular in the last decade as an alternative to standard medicine.

Herbalists use the leaves, flowers, stems, berries and roots of plants to prevent, treat and relieve illness. For instance Digitalis is used as a heart regulator and St .John’s Wort is a popular remedy for mild to medium depression and weight loss.

Animals respond well to herbs and they can be used for all types of problems from boosting metabolism to cleansing and balancing the body’s organs. They are easy to adminsiter for animals and a vet that also uses herbs will recommend what type to take.

During an animal communication session my norwich terrier Stanley, said he needed Motherwort – on investigating it turns out that Motherwort is idea for soothly cramps! This shows that we all have the knowledge inside of us to tell us what is the best for us.

I use herbs that are already prepared as tinctures and I buy them from Neals Yard.  This makes them so easy to take and absorb. One of my finds is Black Walnut which not only gets rid of parasites but boosts the metabolism as well.

As well as visiting a herbal vet I would suggest that you buy a good book containing good explanations of the herbs so you can start offering them for your family.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a therapeutic system of medicine that is based on the principle of like-cures-like – which means that a substance that can cause certain symptoms in a healthy person can cure similar symptoms in an unhealthy person.  Homeopathic remedies aim to aid and stimulate the body’s own defence and immune processes and are derived from a variety of plants, animal materials and minerals.  They are prescribed to fit each individual’s needs, are given in much smaller and less toxic doses than traditional medications, and are used for both prevention and treatment.  Established 200 years ago by German physician  Samuel Hahnemann, Homeopathy is now recognised by the World Health Organisation as the second largest therapeutic system in the world.

Homeopathy considers a patient’s (be it a person or an animal) complaints in totality, viewing them as a whole - as an integrated entity - and not as a collection of body parts. So it treats the person or animal as a whole (called a “constitutional” remedy).  Homeopathic medicines are very effective in both acute and chronic conditions and in my own personal opinion, are the quickest working alternative I have found.

Animals instinctively know what homeopathic remedies they need and will identify them during an animal communication session.  My Norwich terrier Stanley takes homeopathy every day to control his muscle fits and my Norfolk terrier Hardy takes homeopathy for his heart.

You then will take your animal to see a homeopathic vet who will talk through a treatment plan.

Bach Flower Remedies

Dr. Edward Bach was a British Physician, who started to heal people with flower remedies.  These later became the Bach Flower Remedies, of which there are 38.  These Remedies work on the emotional level and are particularly successful with animals as well as people.

How do the Remedies work?

The Bach Flower Remedies are a safe and natural method of healing. They gently restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions, such as, fear, worry, hatred and indecision which interfere with the equilibrium of the being as a whole.

How are the Bach Flower Remedies made?

The Bach Flower Remedies are made 100% naturally from spring water infused with wild flowers, either by the sun-steeped method or by boiling. The Remedies are hand produced exclusively in England and contain 27% grape based brandy as a preservative.

Rescue Remedy

Rescue Remedy is a combination of remedies which gives a boost when needed in an emergency situation and everybody should have a bottle handy!
